New Year, New Open Beta: Introducing Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) in Unbounce

Hi @Mark_H – It’s possible that you could make an AMP version of your WordPress blog post in Unbounce but it wouldn’t be an elegant experience. For your blog post, check out some of the WordPress AMP converters which are more targeted at publications. Great use cases for Unbounce’s AMP builder are ecommerce, lead gen, social or email landing pages, or anytime you’d wanna personalize multiple versions of a landing page to segment and target different audiences. With Unbounce you’d be looking to trim load time to maximize engagement and ultimately, conversion.

Can I use an Unbounce page as my Wordpress home page, but still have normal wordpress pages on my site?

Thanks for the love Scott! With Unbounce’s WordPress Integration you can still run your site through WordPress and use all of their functionality. The Plugin doesn’t replace any of it. Once you connect Unbounce & WordPress, you just tell Unbounce where you’d like your page published (in this case, to your root domain as your homepage) and Unbounce will take care of it. It doesn’t replace any of WordPress’s features. Check out the Unbounce WordPress Integration announcement where you can find a link to the plugin and the documentation to get started. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes.

Viewport meta tag for mobile

Hi Elsa, The purpose of that box is to ensure that mobile specific pages display properly on mobile devices. Unfortunately, checking it won’t make your page responsive (ie. adapt to both mobile & desktop devices.) Does that make sense? We know how important responsive design is though and have some customers alpha testing the feature right now. You can keep an eye on http://inside.unbounce.com for responsive design progress updates and in the mean time, can check out this post which outlines where it’s at in development.

Pre-populate name AND email fields

Hey Luke - I’m pretty sure that HubSpot and Marketo use cookie tracking to auto-complete the forms (rather than URL parameters as MailChimp/Unbounce do.) I totally get the use case and as awesome a feature as that would be, using merge fields/URL parameters as Quinn outlined is your best bet with MailChimp & Unbounce.

Creating a "look inside" preview of my ebook on my landing page

Further to Quinn’s point, you could also consider uploading a snippet of your book to slideshare, then embedding that on your landing page. It would be a pretty low barrier way to test this idea and see if the preview boosts, reduces, or has no effect on conversion rate. Would that work for you? I’d be very, very keen to hear the test results if you implement the preview Mike.

Hi Tim - Completely agreed. This is just a workaround and not meant to be an ideal solution. We’re in the process of building responsive page design and are running a closed alpha test with a handful of customers right now. We want to create a much more elegant solution for you that isn’t any extra work.

No, no Antonio. It’s no bother at all! Helping customers like you is exactly why I get up in the morning 🙂 I looked into your page again and saw that your first variant’s email field was labeled E-mail (with a dash) while your second variants email field was labeled Email (no dash). I hopped into your page and changed them both to Email and made sure that your field mapping settings are all good now. It should work now but can I get your permission to test your page’s form? I want to make sure that your marketing campaign is all set.

MailChimp: Integration Error

Hi Antonio, I just checked out your integration and it looks like there were two issues. Firstly, the E-Mail field on your form wasn’t mapped over to the EMAIL field in MailChimp. I’ve fixed that for you so you’re all good there. But on your C variant, your email field needs to be relabeled and it needs to be set as required. Check out this screenshot to see what I mean: Once you’ve made that change, it should work perfectly from here on out.

How to drive Adwords traffic to url of matching UVP when split testing

Hi Marilyn - That definitely helps to clarify things. Good news is that using Unbounce’s dynamic text replacement feature, you could use one landing page, run your A/B test, and dynamically change the headline to the ad your visitors clicked. Which should let you do exactly what you outlined. However, I’d keep in mind that since you’d be testing your ads in AdWords, using different headlines for each in Unbounce, and A/B testing, your test results might get a bit muddied. I’ve seen a handful of customers specify “Work Email” rather than just “Email” on their forms – might be something worth A/B testing to see if it improves conversion *and* helps address the problems mentioned above. Has anyone had success trying something like that?

Can you get a log of visitors' IP addresses?

Hi Mark - is your page just clickthrough or is it lead gen? If you’ve got a form on your page, we provide you the IP address of each lead that converts. If it’s just a click through page but you use Google Analytics, you should be able to track your visitors’ IPs through GA. Would that work for you?

[Urgent] Are there server issues today?

Hi Finge - we received a handful of other support tickets from European customers reporting similar issues. Our dev team let me know that they saw a period of degraded response times (up to 20 seconds) but everything seems to be back to normal now. They’re currently investigating to figure out exactly what happened.

Hi Jeremy - the checkbox is still there. The properties pane is contextual, so it changes based on the page element you have selected. To see the Stretch Background to Page Edges option, you have to first select the relevant page section, then you should see the option on the side. Can I implement my own design?

I’ll echo Johnny here Stan, but I do have a follow up question: Since your page is entirely custom code, do you have the custom code for the variant you want to A/B test against? Because if that’s that case, you could create a second variant into which you paste the B version of your code and everything should work like a dream. Let me know either way. I can provide more comprehensive instructions if this will work for you.

Just Launched: Pass Incoming URL Parameters to Outgoing Button Links

Hey Brad - the Properties Panel is contextual, meaning that it changes based on whatever you’ve got selected on your page. If you select that second button, you should see the panel change to that particular buttons properties where you can then update its Click Action. Give that a shot but let me know how it goes.

Can we link to an external stylesheet? or will the css always be embedded?

Hi TT - your code didn’t come through in the comment, but if you’re linking to an external stylesheet, you’d embed the following line of code onto your page using the CSS tool: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="mystyle.css"> Just update “mystyle.css” to the URL of your stylesheet and you should be good to go.

Hi Stan - you sure can! When you create a new page, select “Start from a Blank Page” on the template selection screen. What kind of design are you starting with?
