Hi everyone,

I’m J’Que from Trinidad and Tobago, a twin-island country in the Caribbean. I’m a young marketing professional, just starting out in the field. It’s my passion so I typically devour any content created in the name of marketing. Unbounce seems like a good source of relevant information and I love how much personality the brand has. Keep the communications flowing.

Welcome to the community, Sadhana! As you’ll see, it’s a great group to jump into, especially when you’re just getting started.

So, where do you see Unbounce fitting into your marketing plans? Are you already using the platform?

Have a great day and talk with you soon,

Hi, I’m Sadhana from India.
I found unbounce when I subscribed to a webinar. I’m about a month or so old into digital marketing, conversions and SEO. Excited to learn!!

that’s some great advise, thanks a lot!

Hi Stephen,

Great to meet you!

There’s a bit of irony in your question 🙂 You’ve recognized that you can market and sell a product that isn’t very robust (10% of the effort is dedicated to it).

However, when you’re serving clients, your product is your reputation. Because you don’t have a reputation, you can’t get clients. My advice is to fake it 'til you make it. Seriously consider what kind of clients you want. Study them. Get to know their needs so well that your pitch demonstrates you know your stuff and simply omit case studies in the beginning. Charge what they would expect to be charged from someone who’s confident in their skills. If they ask about case studies, just say with confidence that you’re trying something new, so you don’t have any case studies that would be relevant. Nobody’s going to mind that you’re faking it if you actually follow through and do a great job.

You’ll lose more pitches than if you had case studies, but you can get clients without them. As you get clients, make case studies and add them into your pitch.

That confidence is important though… and if you don’t feel confident enough to fake it, you might want to do some free work to get your skills up. Just don’t fall into the trap of doing small jobs forever 🙂

Hi, I’m Stephen from Hong Kong.

I’m a web developer recently turned entrepreneur. Just recently quit my web dev job and started really diving into digital marketing, as I realize making a successful internet product is probably 10% coding and 90% marketing.

I’d like to become really good at all aspects of digital marketing to allow myself to create a product and market it well. It’s my dream to work on my own internet business full-time and make a good living.

I’d probably also want to do digital marketing consulting for others to really sharpen my marketing skills as well, and get some quick wins to keep some food on table.

My challenge currently is starting at point zero at the moment, it’s sort of the chicken-or-egg problem. With no past success or case studies, I’m not sure how to get clients. With no clients though, I’m not sure how to get more practice and more success / case studies. My only current thought is doing some free work.

If Corey, or anyone has any suggestions or advice for me, I’d love to hear! Thank you.

Hi Niki,

Glad to hear you came to the CTA Conference!

I know exactly what you mean about things being overwhelming. The downside of content marketing being really popular is that there are a bajillion articles to sift through. My advice is to start by asking yourself (or better yet, your customers) “where would retail stores in our area go to look for our services?”.

The answer may be something online like Google, or it may be offline trade shows or word of mouth. Whatever the answer is, that’s where you should start! Consider actively ignoring advice on other channels that don’t show up at the top of that list, so you don’t go crazy 🙂

Hey Niki! Welcome to the community.

One of my previous jobs was at a large toy manufacturer and we relied a lot on custom in-store displays for tons of our product lines. In-store retail and merchandising is an industry that’s been fairly resilient to the Digital RevolutionTM compared to others, but it will definitely be transformed as all others have been. So it’s good that you’re thinking ahead!

One of the huge advantages of modern digital marketing is the ability to capitalize on intent. Word of mouth is amazing, but if someone hasn’t heard of you by the time they’re looking to address their need, you likely won’t be able to get their business. But with something like search marketing, you can reach people in their time of need by, say, having ads that appear on Google when someone searches for “in-store display” or related keywords. (I looked them up and competition for these keywords is actually pretty low!) Or using Facebook ads to target retailers and audiences that look like retailers. (Lookalike audiences on Facebook are really cool, so check those out.)

These are just two things you can consider and there’s even more to think about, like using content designed for retailers and brands to collect new leads and build an email list, or using un-gated (no sign-up form) content to build your reputation and increase your organic search rankings. And that doesn’t even touch the potential of email marketing.

So … yeah, it’s super overwhelming. But don’t worry. You got this!

Hi Niki,

Those were some fantastic presentations for sure.

Well hey, if you’re thinking about using Unbounce, it’s a solid product all around and I highly recommend it. If you have any specific questions about anything Unbounce related, feel free to ask!

Hi Niki,

Welcome to the Unbounce community! CTA16 was fantastic! Who was your favorite speaker?

This forum is a great place to begin when it comes to landing page design, optimization, etc. Curious, what role does Unbounce play in your business? Are you actively using it to develop pages?

Have a great day!

Hi Unbouncers,

In this community I feel like quite an “odd bird.” My company designs, builds, and installs retail displays, fixtures and environments - in the physical world

We are a third-generation, family-owned company, and over the course of the last 80 years or so have built a comprehensive network of relationships with world-class brands and retailers, with our business primarily coming from word-of-mouth referrals. As a result, digital marketing simply hasn’t been on the forefront of our efforts.

Although I’m loving the insights I’m discovering through guidance from speakers at CTA16, I am feeling pretty overwhelmed, which is kind of what some of the speakers were talking about: everyone keeps producing more “content”, top 10 lists, professional’s guides, etc., making the massive pile of articles I need to dig through larger and larger.

I’m currently in the inquiry of “where to begin?” and “what’s actually worth my time?” knowing that my team is small and the potential growth from using these tools is pretty huge.

Looking forward to learning more!

Hi Mia! Welcome to the community.

Gating content can be an effective way of gathering leads, but you’re right that you need to build interest first. Content marketing has been an incredibly lucrative strategy from Unbounce, but we provide a lot of un-gated content as well that has helped us build trust with our readers and customers. (And also, we just love to share marketing knowledge Ñ more empowered marketers is better for us, in general!) So one avenue to consider is producing some freely available content to generate interest.

You can also consider promoting your gated content with pay-per-click advertising. If you can target the right keywords and provide content that clearly addresses the searcher’s need, it could be very effective. You should check out our book on PPC advertising if this interests you: http://get.unbounce.com/ppc-landing-page-guide/?_ga=1.253762880.957452112.1461341579

One thing I would stress is that content marketing is a long game. It can take many months to show real results; you need to commit to producing great content, constantly. You may want to check out some posts from the content marketing section of our blog: http://unbounce.com/content-marketing/

Best of luck!

Hi Anisa! Thanks for checking in here 🙂

Thought I should let you know up-front that Unbounce, as a service, cannot host adult-only content (as explained in our Terms of Service: http://unbounce.com/terms-of-service/). That doesn’t mean you couldn’t make landing pages for your products using Unbounce, but you would have to steer clear of using imagery that could be considered pornographic or inappropriate for minors. Not sure if you are even using Unbounce, but I wanted to be transparent about this.

This is likely an issue you’re going to run into often, as Google AdWords and other digital marketing mainstays frequently have policies that will restrict your ability to market your products. You’ll have to get creative.

I can’t say this is a particular area of expertise for me, but consider looking into online communities you can get involved in and YouTubers or podcasts that cover a relevant niche.

Thanks for the advice Brad! I’m going to check it out right now. My life is incredible, it took a lot to get where I am (not necessarily work, but heart), and I want to help others get the incredible lives they deserve too. I love to travel out west, and in the winter I love to stay near Crystal River, Florida and kayak with the manatees and dolphins. :o

Who are you? What’s your name, job, what are your interests?

I am Mia, the Marketing Manager for a well-established manufacturing company that has a self-funded startup being launched this year with a patented technology designed for the small to medium industrial/manufacturing market.

And what marketing problem are you struggling with right now?

I have created an educational research guide type website for this specific product (includes competitor products, specs, applications, etc.) with the (hidden) goal of gathering leads for the future product. My challenge is needing to “gate” as much content as possible with surveys, email signups, pdf downloads, etc. but I still need to gather enough interest in the site before I ask for information from the visitor. I need to become an expert with creating a “give/take” relationship for our web visitors.

Hello and thanks for the email!
I am Nisa and i am Project Manager of an online sex store since 2 months now but i am getting many troubles regarding to finding marketing strategies to promote the products or the website in overall. The company where i work has been successful at promoting products of other websites focused on fashion online sales, gifts online sales, etc. But sex products seem to be difficult to promote.
I would like some advices about promoting this kind of website.
Have a great time :)

Thanks for joining the community, Melissa! That sounds like an incredible life. What are your favourite places to travel to?

It seems like you’re starting in the right place by outlining what you’re going to offer. Finalizing the details of the product itself Ñ in your case, the content Ñ is the best thing you can do before moving onto an actual promotional strategy.

Would recommend checking out both the Resources section of our website and the Unbounce blog Ñ the latter of which is so jam-packed with helpful content that I’d really recommend using the categories menu on the right to navigate it. 🙂

Hi Nicholas (great name by the way - I have a nephew named Nicholas!), I’m just working through the outline of what I want to offer, but it will be centered around helping others achieve their dreams. I plan on including content such as courses, ebooks, videos and personal coaching (although I don’t like the word coaching - it’s been over-used). My basic plan is to start with a landing page and deliver some awesome free content (such as a 4-part video series), build a list, and then direct those list members to my website. Right now it’s just me wearing all the hats, and learning as much as I can. Thanks for your interest!

Hi Melissa, welcome to the community! That sounds very exciting. Congrats! So, what type of online presence or business are you interested in building? Do you want to sell online courses to help others, or offer consulting, etc?

Hi there! My name is Melissa, and I am brand-spankin’ new to the whole marketing and content, etc. etc. thing, so I am trying to absorb as much information as possible. What I do know is this…I’ve just made my dreams come true and I now live in a big RV with my 2 dogs, and I have a wonderful life traveling and exploring this great United States and living life to the fullest. I plan to be able to work from anywhere in my RV as I travel, and I’m starting an online presence/business where I can help others live their lives to the fullest and pursue their dreams too. So I guess the most important thing I need to know right now is How To Get Started. Thanks and nice to meet ya! ![](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1434112/RackMultipart20160615-76070-1bqjlwd-2014-08-25_15.53.39 600_x_220 inline.jpg?1466001613)

Hi Tina,

I work with a few Realtors down here in Florida. Would love to swap ideas with you for lead generation. I’ve set up a few successful campaigns for this using Unbounce, but there is so much else to test!

Hi, I’m Eric, owner of Chewy Mooey, a new and growing jerky manufacturer in Perth, Australia. Over the previous year, my focus has been on wholesale - getting my products into brick and mortar shops. I’ve now engaged distributors to handle that side of things, and I’m now looking to build out our online/direct marketing side of things. I have very little online marketing experience. I’m looking forward to learning.

I’m a residential real estate appraiser in the Chicago area. What is the best way to get a client to order an appraisal?

Hi Corey,

I’m Tami. I handle marketing for Cyzerg an IT Services and Solutions provider for Logistics companies. I love content marketing and I’m getting into the motions of inbound.

I’ve actually used Unbounce in one of my past companies ( left there about 2 years ago…) The tool was great, but I was learning a lot from your blog so I continued to follow the blog when I started working here.

Our biggest marketing problem right now is capturing website traffic and turning it into leads. What do you think about Hubspot since you’ve started using it?

By the way, this might be because of the way our spam filters are set up, but this email landed in my Junk box.
