From my understanding, High Sierra Safari will use machine learning to detect auto-played “advertising” videos, such as videos in sidebar ads.

I am under the impression that video backgrounds shouldn’t be impacted… 🙌

Let’s hope. I only have one mac at the moment and it’s my daily driver so didn’t run the beta to see. My guess is that it’s going to be looking at where the content is served from, ad tags, a blacklist of adservers. Youtube/vimeo aren’t deemed as advertising so hopefully it’s fine.
