When you first click “Edit mask” it shouldn’t automatically shrink with no guidance. Most of the time when I cilck “Edit mask”, I want to adjust the mask only on one side, but end up having to edit it on all 4 sides to undo the automatic shrinking it does.
"Edit Mask" automatic changes can be a nuisance, can we change that?

Hi Alexandra - I actually noticed this myself today as well when doing some testing with some images on one of my pages. I’ve passed it on to our Product team, so hopefully it’s either something they can look at changing or if there’s a technical reason for it to start shrunken down, I’ll be able to let you know.
