Apologies if this idea already exists but I couldn’t find it. I’d love to be able to customize the options in a dropdown menu so that the display text the user sees and the stored value are different.


I’ve currently implemented a workaround using a very simple jQuery script, but it would be nice to have OOTB for users who do not have javascript enabled.


Currently, you can only build a dropdown that delivers something like this:


Volvo



   







Saab







 







Mercedes







 







  Audi

But I’d like to be able to do something like this:


  Volvo







 







  Saab







 







  Mercedes







 







  Audi

I’m afraid this is correct, there is no out of the box functionality for this and it would have to be accomplished using a small piece of scripting. I like your idea though so I’m going to +1 it!
