A/B TEST RESULTS: Security Site Seal

Really interesting test Phillip. In my experience, it imperative to test anything in close proximity to your CTA , so good on you for not just blindly implementing it. It’s amazing how proximal elements impact our decision making. I’ve seen a few case studies where trust seals hurt conversions, one theory being that it makes you look a little more desperate to convince people of your trustworthiness. Looks like you did everything right on the testing front too (250+ conversions on each variant) which is awesome to see. Although I would be curious to know how long it ran for. Thanks again for sharing.

Stop bouncing

Hi Don, The form could use some work. Try to consider form-first design. Designing the form area as if it’s the only thing on the page. Sign up now is aggressive and doesn’t tell me what I’ll get or why I should care. Have the form headline more about how it’ll make my life better.  If it’s about success stories and hearing about how you’re having a positive impact then sell me on that, so I can understand why I’d want to subscribe. You do mention these things further down, but you’re asking me to commit at the top. I’d bring a couple of bullet points into the above-the-fold area. Also, what’s your goal with the email? Are you trying to get people to donate? Why would I want to receive the newsletter? Am I just a concerned citizen in general?  What type of conversion rate did you expect? Is there any precedent from what you’ve done in the past? You might be a candidate for placing the form at the bottom of the page to see if people want to read more before committing. I’d also consider

Using Unbounce with an existing site?

Hi Timothy, Seems like you are looking to do lead gen. In that case, I would go with option #2 - include a relevant call to action on your most popular pages and then push them through to the lead gen pages in Unbounce. This way you are setting up the landing page correctly to be a standalone landing page that can accept traffic from your website (and in the future perhaps from other inbound sources like email). If you simply redirected the traffic to an Unbounce page, you would need to recreate the purpose of that page in Unbounce which would take you away from the concept of a single CTA on the landing page. Just make sure that the CTA that directs them from your current page has strong message match with the headline of the landing page. I hope that helps a bit. Cheers Oli

SlideDeck free with Unbounce

Hi Thomas - see #8 here for more details: http://unbounce.com/features/awesome/ The free version is much tougher to use as it has a lot of code and CSS to make it work and we don’t currently support it - so you’d have to try it out yourself (unless someone else here has it working). The online version (not a feature complete) works like a charm - as per the link above. Sorry I couldn’t be more help, but if you wan to use the beta web version - I should be able to hook you up. Do I get the e-mail information from a conversion

Hi Zachary, Absolutely. If you have a form on your page that is collecting emails - make sure you set the conversion goal (from the right-hand tab in the page editor) as “form submission” so that they show up in your conversion stats. And if you want to be notified via email whenever someone completes your form, you can set up email notifications on the “page overview” screen of your page (the same place where you see the A/B testing and stats.
