Does adding a sticky bar to your website increase the page load time?

Our website contains a lot of media which means that load time is always a concern. We are considering including a sticky bar on our site to drive traffic to a new page we launched but I want to be sure that the added script won’t increase the load time. If the sticky bar is set to apprear on a delay, does that change the answer?

Great question!

Don’t quote me as I am not 100% sure, but I do not think it would cause a significant decrease in speed.

Try running it through https://gtmetrix.com/ with and without the sticky bar.

Would love to know the results!

Thanks for the suggestion! I will give it a try and let you know.

depends what is on the sticky bar - but generally will make little difference.

We have seen no increase in load time from sticky bars.

Hi @Emma_Van_Sant,

Jumping in here a bit late but just wanted to clarify things. Sticky bars are loaded asynchronously, which means they load in the background and thus won’t block the rest of your page from being shown.

If this needs any further clarification please let me know.
