I was just reading another thread which recommended removing social icons as they detract from the call to action and potentially drive traffic off site.
Generally I would agree - detracting from call to action = bad, drive traffic off site = very bad!
We do have them on some of our pages however - generally when we are struggling for traditional trust symbols - our first port of call is association memberships, awards wins - accreditations etc.
But some times you work with companies who have nothing to work with in this respect.
So we roll out the social icons… but they are not links…
Although this is something we use often, I don’t think we have ever tested it’s effectiveness 🙁
What do people think - do they work as trust symbols? potential negative effect by not having links on them?
