How to insert a new thumbnail image for a video link?

I have embedded a code for my Vimeo published video but now I would like to have the texts inserted into video disappear with a new floating image. Is this possible? I tried to insert an image but in preview, it doesn _t play the video. Any answers to this? Embed code additions etc? Thanks.
