Automatic gender detection

Hi community So we started to A/B test an automatic gender detection service. It allows us to leave away the Mr./Mrs. field at the top of the form. The gender service quite accurately detects the gender based on the first name and IP location. We’ve run the A/B test on two landing pages for more than a month now. I was absolutely sure, that hiding one form will for sure increase the conversion rate. But, in one case the conversion rate is slightly lower ( at a low confidence ) and in the other case the conversion rate is 23% lower with 97% confidence. Now I really struggle to find an explanation for this. Apart of the the one field that is hidden in the A/B test everything is exactly the same on both landing pages. On one side there could be psychological reasons that I can’t think of. On the other side maybe technical reasons I can’t test for. What do you think?

Dynamic content replacement

The subject says it all, doesn’t it? Imagine headlines, texts, images, colors, styles, etc. being replaced based on your URL’s parameters. Everything dynamic 🙂 It would be so much easier to have one landingpage with dynamic content than many for each targeted audience. Sure. This requires responsive design first. But unbounce is on it. unbounce go go go

Segmented telefone input field

Problem: We have plenty of international visitors who don’t add the country and/or state prefix to their phone number. Unfortunately very often it gets very difficult to figure out what the real phone number is. In average 10 to 30% of our collected phone numbers have this issue. They look as real phone numbers (no incorrect entries like 1111111 or 1234457) but don’t work.  Solution: Have the phone input field split into two or even three segments. The first segment would be for the country code. With some geo_ip javascript this field could even be preselected automatically. This already would be a strong indication for the visitor how to add the exact phone number in the second input field.  One additional problem which then would have to be solved is to make this two phone input fields together the same width as all the other input fields. I’m sure you’ll able to figure out a way.

Automatic IP filter

Problem: I often change workplaces and I am on a dynamic IP at home which means the IP changes regularly (almost daily). This makes it very difficult to maintain a valid IP filter in Unbounce. Solution: Each time a user (admin or viewer) logs into Unbounce, his IP address gets added automatically to the IP filter.
