Unbounce DTR with Google Ads

Im struggling with setting up DTR in Google with Unbounce.

In Unbounce I have:

  1. Added DTR to ‘Double Glazing’ with a URL Parameter of ‘upvckeyword’ within my landing page.
  2. My Dynamic URL is https://www.companyname.co.uk?upvckeyword=UPVC Windows
  3. This displays ‘uPVC Windows’ instead of ‘Double Glazing’ - this is what i expect.

How do i link this to Google Ads? The instructions linked from the Unbounce guide seems to point to Google Ads dynamic text which is for their own Ad.

What I am trying to aim for is:

  1. When Google keyword “double glazing” is triggered, it will send the user to the normal landing page with the standard ‘Double Glazing’ text.
  2. When Google keyword “upvc window” is triggered, it will send the user to https://www.companyname.co.uk?upvckeyword=UPVC Windows which will display the landing page with the ‘uPVC Windows’ wording.

How do I add this logic to the “upvc window” Google Ads keyword?

Hey @bdjm789,
In this case, the URL parameter in Unbounce can be sent in the final URL suffix on Google Ads. If you don’t have the DTR configured on Google Ads the default text will appear.

.

Then on each Ad when you edit it, at the bottom you’ll find the option “Ad URL options”.

There you need to set up the URL suffix like the following example. The %20 stands for the space between the words.

Hope you will find this helpful,

Thanks for your reply.

I have actually noticed within Google Ads I can add a Final URL for each keyword. So what I have done is added the URL - https://www.companyname.co.uk?upvckeyword=UPVC%20Windows into the Final URL of the Google Keyword ‘upvc windows’.

Now I think what happens is that when a user searches Google and triggers the keyword ‘upvc windows’ and click on my Google Ad, then they will be directed to my dynamic landing page.

Hey there!

I would recommend looking at Value Track parameters for Google Ads.

This will allow you to set the keyword dynamnically by inserting ?upvckeyword={keyword} into your URLs.

To make this even easier you can do so at the account level using a URL tracking template.

If you were to do this your tracking template would look something like: {lpurl}?upvckeyword={keyword}

This would then ensure the final URL from the ad is pulled through as well as the keyword for every search campaign you put live, without the need to manually set anything!

Hope this helps.
