Is there a way I can send someone a URL for a particular variant in a test? Would be great to send http://url.com/unbounce-test/a or /b to force the variant.
Hi David! Yes, you can use http://url.com/unbounce-test/a.html, for example. Note that visits to variant-specific URLs are *not* recorded in your statistics. This is a bit of an undocumented feature we may not support in the future.
That’s awesome! I would recommend you keep it. It is great to be able to check the actual page w/o opening up a bunch of different browsers - for 2 reasons:
- To check all the links
- To show to 3rd parties (consultants, friends, etc.) who you might not want to give the username and password to your unbounce account.
The preview function is great, but it’s missing this capability. Please keep it!
Yes, very useful for demo to friends, helpers, family… thanks
This is not working for me.
Hi Jun - I just did a quick test with your homepage and it works for me when I go to:
http://www.articlebunny.com/a.html
http://www.articlebunny.com/g.html
http://www.articlebunny.com/h.html
If there’s a different page you’re running into issues with, can you send us an email at support@unbounce.com with the URL of that page?
I don’t see this working for me either.
a.html works but not b or c.

Hey Will,
Make sure to set the weight to at least 1%. Let me know if that works for you!
this approach does not work for http://pd.riskaudit.com/1373-trade-finance/h.html
Hi Ewaan,
Your link opens up fine so not sure what seems to be the problem.
Can you elaborate a bit more on the issues you are having?
Best,
Hristian
We are facing the same issue, can someone help please?
http://page.com/landing-page-slug/a.html works, but b.html, d.html doesn’t . They have 35% weight each. Why can’t we see them? Also, on refresh, only variant A is shown, not the other two. Are these two issues related? Please help.
Thanks,
sg
Hi there im very new to unbounced, can some one help me out with the abc on how to accomplish this?
Hi Jonathan,
Simply note down the variant of your page, make sure it has at least 1% weight, publish it, and then go to the live URL and add /a.html to the end of it, so the full URL looks like “https://example.com/a.html”
Replace the “a” with “b” or “c” or whatever the variant letter is for the page variant you want to see. That’s all!
Let me know if this makes sense. If not, happy to further elaborate.
This does not work for me except for “champion” variants, even with other variants have % of traffic and are published. I can promote any variant to champion and it will work.
This works well for me, I did note that I needed to open the variant again and republish after allocating a weight to it which is how I got mine to work. Here is the link below so you can view the syntax:

This doesn’t work for me
Hey @DigitalOracal,
Welcome to the Unbounce community.
Loading a specific URL variant requires that a page is 1) Published and 2) has at least 1% weight
If you page ticks 1 & 2, you might want to reach out to Unbounce support so they can take a look and help you troubleshoot this issue.
Best,
Hristian
Hi guys,
im looking into testing some features that would change how poeple engage with my landing page. I’m not really interested with conversions on this one, so i’ll be using HotJar to record people clicks and movements on it. So apart from the aforementioned problem, that using http://landingpage.com/a.html method doesn’t record visits (which is fine bcs ill get from HotJar) is there any other possible downside/problem i might encounter using it? Ill be sharing my lp through email campaign where 50% will get a.html and the other half b.html
@dominik.rabalski I sure hope you got your answer, but, we have been able to use HotJar but utilizing the Trigger tragging method in HotJar, then setting up the script within the variant (and another one for the control version).
I may be writing a longer blog post on this in order to go deeper into our other UnBounce article:
https://mashmetrics.com/the-difference-between-unbounce-and-google-analytics/
You just have to be careful with variant tracking since it’s quite possible to have more than 1 variant that has the same variant letter - a, b, c, etc. (variantID).
Here are a couple of scripts for both cases that we’ve written a while back and we use for our clients.
Best,
Hristian
Note that if you make a copy from a different page, the variants don’t reset and DO NOTstart with “A”. I found out that my variants where H an I, so “a.html” did not work and I kept my head scratching until I went down the alphabet. You can see the variant letter in the dropdown (see screenshot) Anyone knows how to reset that, so that my variant starts with “A” again?
