I’ve tried to add a retargeting code snippet inside the HTML widget but it just returns the text (visible)…is it possible to use retargeting snippets (in this case DoubleClick) on Unbounce pages?

Remarketing code is usually mostly javascript based. You’d want to drop it inside your javascript box rather than a HTML widget:
