Targeting By channel


Hi There!

I’m trying to only show specific sticky bar banners to customers coming from organic, direct, and referral. To do this, I tried restricting any URLs with a “?” in it, as well as restricting and referred pages from a URL with a “?”. The issue is that once a customer leaves the landing page with the “?”, the UTM parameters disappear. Thus, once any customer gets to the third page of their session, the sticky banner will appear, no madder what channel them came through on.

Is there a way around this? Can I use cookies to target? If so, how?

You are correct that one way to do it is to use cookies.

Another way might be to use GTM to place the popup script based on your particular conditions.
