Referral Sources Tracking


I’m new here and I’m trying to understand how the UTM tags work.
We created a landing page to promote our Careers opportunities and the main channels that we will be sending the link are emails and LinkedIn message (not ads).
I will create a unique URL for each channel but wondering if this will work as they are not ads.

Also, the main goal of this campaign will be people accessing the page (number of visitors). The page will have a form, but it won’t be our conversion goal. I’m wondering if the referral source tracking will work on this case and how.
We really want to trach where the traffic is coming from and I would appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction.

If you just want to track the source make sure you have properly setup Google Analytics. It would pick up the UTM tags and later on you can segment the traffic.

However, based on my experience, measuring traffic visits for the sake of traffic is not very meaningful metric. At the end of the day, you want people visiting your landing page to take an action.
