Placeholder text not working for dropdown

I’ve added a placeholder script for a form and every field works but the dropdown.

Is this a characteristic of the script?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would you mind sharing a screenshot?

Instead of using a placeholder, we usually use the first item of the dropdown as a non-valid choice and name it as the action such as “Select xyz”. See example below!
