Hello, fabulous community!

Iโ€™m super excited to announce that our Unbounce Experts Program is growing, and Iโ€™d like to highlight some of our new members, starting with Zoe Tattersall!

@Zoe_Tattersall joined our online community in 2014 and has since launched to Power User status. Sheโ€™s our first Unbounce Expert to join us from Australia - which is great because now I have another reason to travel there. 🌊 🌞

You may recognize Zoe here in the community as sheโ€™s super active, and provides invaluable feedback to many of our community members. Iโ€™ve tracked her down and have asked a few questions to help us get to know her better.

If the Experts Program is something that youโ€™re interested in learning more about, visit this landing page (built in Unbounce, duh), or feel free to get in touch with me any time here in the community!

1. What area(s) of digital marketing do you specialize in?

I specialise in helping entrepreneurs, startups and SMBs with everything from landing pages to logo & branding to email design and general graphics or illustrations. I love taking an idea from concept to 100% completion.

Basically, I like making things really, really, really ridiculously good looking. 😉

2. How did you first become interested in Online Digital Marketing?

I studied Industrial Design at university and worked in lighting and product design for a few yearsโ€ฆbut ended up hating the industry and working a โ€˜jobโ€™ in general. So I quit and worked random casual jobs for a whilst I figure out what I wanted to do.

I moved more into the digital design and marketing space about 6 years ago after working at a data/tech start-up in Sydney. I was basically learning and doing what was needed across a lot of different areas in design and marketing.

I kind of became known as the go-to person for new platforms, a blessing and a curse because it meant I was heavily involved a 3 re-brands, 2 major CMS migrations and many, many email platform changes (letโ€™s just say I learnt way more about databases than I ever thought I would!).

I have also had my own business in the health industry for about 10 years โ€“ so it was just a necessity for me to learn a diverse range of platforms/skills, in everything from design to marketing and basic dev, in order to make this a success.

3. What brand or company do you admire in the digital marketing space, and why?

I think itโ€™s hard to not mention Gary Vaynerchuk here. Heโ€™s done a pretty amazing job of branding the entire concept of being an entrepreneur.

4. What is your basic go-to strategy for A/B testing?)

How long is a piece of string?! I mean, you can test anything and it really depends on each case.

If i had to pinpoint a basic approach, then I almost always start with the low-hanging fruit like a header image or CTA button text, and then start dig deeper into things like colour and tweaking the layout.

If itโ€™s on a short timeline, I might go all in on something like two totally different header concepts.

5. Any predictions or trends you foresee dominating marketing in the next 5 years? How about any trends you foresee fading out?

I mean, obviously โ€“ mobile first right?!

Iโ€™m going to talk design trends as thatโ€™s more my expertise โ€ฆ

The old is new or nostalgia trend will keep growing for a while in design โ€“ think scrapbook/cut out style graphics, glitches, double exposures, duo tone, grainy photos with lens flare (thanks Instagram influencers and millennials!).

Flat design seems to be hanging around still as well, with the exception of gradients on backgrounds and graphics. Also anything with bright, bold or contrasting colours.

Layout wise, Iโ€™m loving split page designs and breaking out of the idea of page โ€˜sectionsโ€™.

And then letโ€™s just throw in augmented reality as one that weโ€™ll probably see more of over the next 5 years.

6. Why Unbounce? (Go on, pump our tires!)

Iโ€™ve used Unbounce for about 5 years and itโ€™s always been the easiest platform for me โ€“ both from the perspective of the builder but also because it has the most awesome community and support!

Itโ€™s always been really easy to get in touch directly with a human and I love that there are always new features and updates happening.

7. What is one thing you canโ€™t live without?

Surfing and my loved ones. And from a practically point of view โ€“ coffee, vegetables and Wi-Fi. 😉

8. If you could have dinner with any 5 people from history, dead or alive, who would they be?

Oh good question!

My nan. My partnerโ€™s dad. Anthony Kiedis. Anna Kendrick. Michelle Obama.

Probably not all together though โ€ฆ

9. Share a photo (if youโ€™d like) that encompasses something youโ€™re passionate about! (Hobbies, friends, travel, food, anything!) and tell us about it!

This was a dream surf trip in the Mentawai islands earlier this year โ€“ not something I thought I would be doing after only starting to learn a few years ago!
