Cropping an image

If you want to crop an image for some reason, use a Box instead of an Image element. Set the image you want to use as the background image of the box. You can change the Position attribute of the background image to crop from either side or the center in either axis. Remove the border from the box.

[RESOLVED: Unbounce Alert] Temporary Issue with Page Statistics

Hey everyone, wanted to bring this to your attention right away. We recently discovered a configuration issue with one of the servers in our cluster that ended up impairing its ability to process your page statistics. The net result is that between December 13th and 16th, roughly 20% of your overall page statistics have not been reported. This shouldn’t affect your overall conversion rate (as the missing statistics were evenly distributed), but your overall visitor and conversion numbers would appear slightly lower for those days. Luckily it looks like we’re able to recover your missing statistics, as the raw information is all in our log files. It will take us a day or so to massage everything back into place, but we’ll keep everyone updated as we progress. Please accept my sincere apologies for this error on our part, and rest assured we’ll be updating our change management procedures to ensure this won’t happen again.

[Resolved] Page Statistics Updates are Temporarily Offline

Hello Unbouncers! We are currently experiencing a problem with our statistics system. We know the cause of the issue and are currently working to resolve it. You can rest assured that no data will be lost, however your statistics will be delayed and statistics resets will be offline until we resolve this issue. Issue started at 11:20 PST (19:20 GMT), and we expect to have statistics caught up and back online within the next couple hours.

Search engine change for pages on unbouncepages.com

Just wanted to let everyone know that we just made a change so that pages on unbouncepages.com will be excluded from search engines. Note that this does not affect any pages you’ve published on your own custom domains, only pages specifically published to unbouncepages.com/*. This is something we previously had in place (as outlined in our knowledge base article "Will Google index my landing pages?"). However, during an update a while back, we unintentionally made a change that allowed unbouncepages.com pages to be included in search engines. If you’d like to have your pages indexed and appear in search results, you should Setup your own custom domain for Unbounce and publish your pages there. See the article and video How Do I Set Up My Custom Domain (CNAME)?. Make sure you have de-selected the “Hide my page from search engines” option in the “Title & Meta” tool (it’s de-selected by default, so you probably won’t have to do anything). Drag and drop in the editor

We’re pretty sure you’d all love the ability to “drag and drop” elements around on your page while editing. Right now you can move elements within a section, but you can’t drag them to new sections, and you can’t drag elements off of the toolbar to add them to sections. Let us know if this would make your life easier!

New Feature: Tidy HTML!

Hey everyone, just wanted to announce one more small labs feature: Tidy HTML! If you find yourself cutting and pasting HTML into your pages on a regular basis, you might consider turning this feature on. When enabled, we’ll run your pages through an HTML tidier during publishing which will clean up any invalid markup it finds on your pages. If you happen to run into any issues, just disable the feature and re-publish the affected page. Simple! You’ll find the controls for this in your Account section, under the Unbounce Labs tab. Give it a try, and let us know what you think!

Traffic Meter Issues

Hello everyone. Over the past several weeks we’ve been performing a series of operations behind the scenes in order to smoothly accommodate increases in system activity (we’re growing quickly, thanks to all of you!). All of this work has proceeded with the utmost care, and is always designed to go largely unnoticed and without downtime. Unfortunately, we did experience one issue recently that’s related to this work, in that your traffic meters stopped updating twice for several days at a time. Your individual page statistics, however, have continued to update and display correctly. We’ve fixed the issue earlier this morning, but as a result you may have noticed that your traffic meter shows a sudden increase as it now incorporates the last several days of traffic. Please accept our apologies for any confusion!

Planned maintenance this weekend

We just wanted to let everyone know about some planned maintenance taking place this Saturday evening here at Unbounce. We always work hard to ensure that any planned maintenance goes virtually unnoticed, however, with this change there’s a small chance published pages may be impacted. On Saturday evening, at 11pm Pacific (2am Eastern Sunday morning), we’ll be changing the unbouncepages.com IP address to point to a new version of our page servers. This new version will allow us to continue to scale Unbounce to meet growing demand. During this change, we’ll be closely monitoring our systems, watching for any signs that pages are being served improperly. Should we notice anything unusual, we’ll roll back to our previous servers. We don’t expect this transition period to last for longer than one hour, and during this time, we expect that pages should remain available. We’ve heard from many of you that having a custom domain for your Unbounce pages is highest on your list of desired features, so we’re excited to announce that they’re here!
