I duplicated a landing page to work on changes while the other is running. The REPUBLISH button becomes prominent. Is this just to make the page I’m working on live? Will my other variants continue to run even if I don’t Republish? Thanks.

The “Republish” button becomes active because you’ve added a variant to your original landing page.
As long as you don’t add any weight to your new variant, your visitors will continue to see only the original variant/page. In this case, you can republish the page since the new variant doesn’t have any traffic weight associated with it.
Once you are ready with your changes, you can either split the traffic by adjusting the weight (50%/50%) or you can push all of the traffic to your new variant that you just completed.
